Safety Center
Your safety is our priority
At MeetMyFilipina, we are committed to creating a safe and trustworthy platform for everyone. We combine technology, human review, and community participation to help protect our members. Below you will find information about our safety practices and guidance on how to stay safe while using our platform.
How We Protect You
Profile Verification
We use profile verification measures to help confirm that members are real people. While no verification system is perfect, these measures help reduce fake accounts and build trust within our community.
Content Moderation
Our platform uses automated moderation tools combined with human review to detect and remove content that violates our community standards. Messages are scanned for prohibited content including attempts to share personal contact information prematurely, which helps keep conversations safe and on-platform.
Photo Review
Profile photos are reviewed to help ensure they are appropriate and authentic. We use perceptual hashing technology to detect duplicate and potentially stolen images.
Reporting Tools
Every member has the ability to report suspicious behavior, inappropriate content, or safety concerns directly from the app or website. Our team reviews all reports and takes appropriate action.
Online Safety Guidelines
Protect Your Personal Information
Never share sensitive information with someone you have met online, including:
- Home or work address
- Financial or banking information
- Government-issued identification numbers
- Account passwords
- Travel itineraries or daily routines
Take your time getting to know someone before sharing personal details. A genuine person will respect your boundaries.
Never Send Money
Do not send money or financial assistance to anyone you have met through the platform, regardless of the reason given.
Romance scammers often build emotional connections before creating urgent scenarios that require financial help. Common stories include medical emergencies, travel expenses, family crises, or business problems.
If anyone asks you for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers, stop communication immediately and report the account.
Recognize Warning Signs
Be cautious if someone you are communicating with:
- Asks for money or financial assistance
- Wants to move the conversation off the platform immediately
- Avoids answering direct questions about themselves
- Claims to be in an emergency and needs urgent help
- Professes strong feelings very quickly
- Has inconsistent or vague profile information
- Refuses to do a video call
- Sends photos that appear professionally taken or look like stock images
Use Video Calls
Before meeting in person, we strongly recommend having at least one video call. Video calls help verify that the person is who they say they are and allow you to build comfort and trust before a face-to-face meeting.
Meeting in Person
If you decide to meet someone from the platform in person, follow these safety practices:
- Meet in a public place. Choose a busy restaurant, coffee shop, or public venue for your first meeting.
- Tell someone you trust. Let a friend or family member know where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to return.
- Arrange your own transportation. Do not depend on the other person for a ride, especially on the first meeting.
- Stay sober and alert. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption and keep your personal belongings with you.
- Keep your phone charged. Make sure you have a way to contact someone if needed.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong or you feel uncomfortable, leave the situation. Your safety is more important than being polite.
Reporting and Blocking
How to Report a User
If you encounter behavior that makes you feel unsafe or violates our community standards, you can report the user directly from their profile or from within a conversation. You can also email our support team at support@meetmyfilipina.com.
All reports are reviewed by our team. We take reports seriously and may suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate our standards.
How to Block a User
You can block any user at any time. When you block someone, they will no longer be able to view your profile, send you messages, or appear in your match queue. Blocking is anonymous — the other person will not be notified.
Romance Scam Awareness
Romance scams are a serious issue across all online dating platforms. Scammers create fake profiles, build emotional relationships, and eventually ask for money. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), romance scams result in hundreds of millions of dollars in losses each year.
Protect yourself by remembering:
- Never send money to someone you have not met in person
- Be skeptical of anyone who avoids meeting in person or doing video calls
- Do not share financial information regardless of how trustworthy someone seems
- Report suspicious accounts immediately
If you believe you have been a victim of a romance scam, we encourage you to report it to:
- Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
- FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)
- Your local law enforcement
